….Nigeria loses to West Indies in Second World Cup Match
Nigeria’s junior cricket team, the JUNIOR YELLOW GREEN on Thursday lost by 246 runs to the firepower of the West Indies U19 Cricket Team at the on-going World Cup in Kimberley South Africa.
Having lost her opening match on Monday to highly rated Australia, the JUNIOR YELLOW-GREEN captained by SLYVESTER OKPE stepped up their game taking eight wickets in the first innings but left too many free points from wide balls to set a Herculean 304 to upstage the ‘Windies’.
In what OKPE admitted to after the game, the Nigeria’s batters didn’t pull their weight as they went all out in 21.4 overs with only 57 runs.
Nigeria’s next match is against England at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Saturday January 25, 2020.
The game is a pride match as both team are out of the Super League or the second phase of the World Cup and will proceed to Pochestrum in Johannesburg for ranking matches.
The U19 are making Nigeria’s first appearance in any Cricket World Cup since the 106 years history of the game in the country.
