Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled a cattle rustling operation and recovered more than 500 cattle in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following a distress call from residents over the activities of suspected terrorists at Rugar Mande Kurmin.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops swiftly mobilised to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and established blocking positions.
The troops subsequently engaged the terrorists from multiple positions, forcing them to withdraw in disarray and abandon the rustled cattle.
The statement said the recovered cattle were subsequently handed over to their respective owners.
“The successful operation further buttresses the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to secure lives and property of the citizenry while disrupting criminal activities and denying criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area,” Danja said.
He urged residents to continue providing security agencies with relevant information to aid ongoing operations against terrorists and other criminal elements in the North-West.
“Operation FANSAN YAMMA urges the general public to continue to support security agencies with relevant information to enable the Theatre eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area,” he added.
