Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered four mobile phones and N30,350 during a counter-terrorism operation in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to military sources cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops, deployed around Galadi in Sokoto State, sighted a group of suspected terrorists riding motorcycles while attempting to cross a road in Shinkafi LGA.
The troops engaged the suspects, killing one of them, while others reportedly fled the area.
A search of the deceased suspect reportedly uncovered a woodland camouflage vest concealed beneath his traditional kaftan.
Further exploitation of his mobile phone allegedly revealed photographs of the suspect dressed in camouflage and brandishing a PKM machine gun, according to the military sources.
The troops recovered four mobile phones and N30,350 in cash from the suspect.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces under Operation Fansan Yamma to disrupt terrorist and bandit activities and deny criminal elements freedom of movement across the North-West.
