Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a terrorist and recovered four motorcycles during an offensive operation in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was conducted at dawn on September 4, 2026, following credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists around the Yantumaki Forest axis.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the troops of Sector 1 launched a coordinated offensive against the terrorists.
Danja said the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes.
“During exploitation of the area, troops confirmed the neutralisation of one terrorist and recovered four motorcycles, one mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers, suspected to have been used in the treatment of wounded terrorists,” he said.
The recovery of the intravenous drip containers, according to the military, suggests that the hideout may have been used to provide medical treatment to wounded members of the terrorist group.

The operation is part of sustained efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks and restrict their freedom of movement across the Joint Operations Area.
The military said the latest operation demonstrated the troops’ continued commitment to degrading the operational capabilities of terrorists in the North-West.
“The successful operation further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain pressure on terrorist networks, degrade their operational capabilities and deny them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area,” the statement added.
The task force also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations against terrorist elements.
“OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA urges the general public to continue to support security agencies with relevant information to enable the theatre to eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area,” Danja said.
