Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have reportedly killed a terrorist and recovered four motorcycles and other items during a dawn operation in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was conducted on Friday, September 4, following credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists around the Yantumaki Forest.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops launched a coordinated offensive against the terrorists after receiving the intelligence.
The statement said the troops engaged the terrorists with firepower, forcing them to flee into surrounding bushes.
During a subsequent search of the area, the troops reportedly confirmed the death of one terrorist and recovered four motorcycles, a mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers.
The military said the drip containers were suspected to have been used in treating terrorists who sustained injuries during previous operations.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain pressure on terrorist networks and restrict their movement and operational capabilities across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing operations against terrorists.
The military said such cooperation remained critical to identifying terrorist movements, disrupting their activities and ultimately eliminating terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
