Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims during an operation in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The victims were rescued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity at Mehinua Village along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the JTF North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 swiftly mobilised to the area after receiving the intelligence.

The troops reportedly made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with a high volume of fire, forcing the assailants to flee and abandon their victims.

The six kidnapped victims were subsequently rescued unharmed, while the vehicle involved was recovered and handed over to the relevant community authorities for further action.

The task force said the successful operation demonstrated the commitment of its troops to protecting lives and property across the Joint Operations Area.

“The successful rescue operation demonstrates the resolve by the troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area,” the statement said.

The task force commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
