Troops of the Joint Task Force, North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, have neutralised a suspected Boko Haram terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday in the Lamusuri general area by troops of the 120 Task Force Battalion under Sector 2, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
According to the military, the troops acted on credible intelligence and conducted the operation along a route suspected to be used by terrorist elements in the area.
The troops reportedly sighted a group of Boko Haram terrorists moving along the identified route at about 11 a.m. and subsequently engaged them.
“A firefight ensued, during which one terrorist was neutralised, while others fled the area with suspected gunshot wounds,” the statement said.

Following the encounter, the troops carried out an exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and a body pouch.
The military said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of sustained intelligence-led operations and collaboration between troops and local security stakeholders in efforts to identify and disrupt terrorist activities across the North-East.

“The successful operation underscores the effectiveness of sustained intelligence-led operations and the continued collaboration between troops and local security stakeholders in identifying and disrupting terrorist activities across the North-East Theatre,” the statement added.
The military said troops of Operation HADIN KAI would continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements, deny them freedom of movement and create conditions for the restoration of lasting peace and security in the region.
“Troops of Operation HADIN KAI remain vigilant and resolute in maintaining pressure on terrorist elements, denying them freedom of action and creating conditions for the restoration of lasting peace and security across the region,” Goni said.
