The West African Examinations Council has announced the release of certificates for candidates who sat the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates.
WAEC made the announcement on Friday through its official X handle, urging candidates to access and retrieve their certificates through the council’s Digital Certificate Platform.
“The 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates Certificate is now available for access on the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform,” the examination body said.
The digital platform allows candidates to view, download and share their certificates, while institutions and organisations can use a separate verification feature to confirm the authenticity of candidates’ credentials.
Candidates seeking to access their certificates are required to visit the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform, select the Certificate Access option, provide the required examination and identification details, and complete the verification process, including OTP authentication where applicable.
After successful verification, candidates can view and download their certificates for secure storage or submission to institutions requiring them.
WAEC also advised candidates to use its official digital certificate mobile application to access their credentials conveniently on mobile devices.
The certificate platform is separate from the standard WAEC result-checking portal previously used by candidates to access their examination results.
The release of the certificates follows the publication of the 2026 WASSCE results. WAEC said 1,950,726 candidates registered and sat for the examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
The 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with candidates drawn from more than 24,200 secondary schools.
