The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has unveiled a technology-driven governance agenda for the 2027 elections, saying he would appoint Artificial Intelligence (AI) as “Minister of Finance” and deploy a drone as “Minister of Defence” to enhance transparency, efficiency and national security.
Sowore made the proposal in a statement on Friday, arguing that technology, rather than political patronage, should drive governance in Nigeria.
According to him, artificial intelligence would eliminate human manipulation, waste and corruption in public finance by making transparent, data-driven decisions.
“The AI will eliminate human manipulation, waste, and corruption in public finance by making data-driven, transparent decisions,” he said.
He added that drones would transform Nigeria’s security architecture through modern surveillance, rapid response, precision operations and greater accountability.
“The Drone will redefine national security with modern surveillance, rapid response, precision, and accountability. The future of governance is technology, not patronage,” Sowore stated.
The former presidential candidate said the proposal forms part of his broader #Sowore2027 agenda, which seeks to leverage emerging technologies to improve governance and combat corruption.
He maintained that blockchain technology would also be deployed to create a transparent and tamper-proof digital record of government transactions, contracts, budget allocations and public expenditures.
According to Sowore, artificial intelligence would continuously monitor government operations in real time, detect fraudulent transactions, expose procurement irregularities and identify conflicts of interest before public funds are lost.
He said the adoption of AI and blockchain would make corruption “technologically difficult, easily detectable and swiftly punishable,” while reducing bureaucracy and improving service delivery.
“Our goal is not bureaucracy; it is to rapidly improve Nigerians’ quality of life through technology-driven governance,” he added.
