President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals into the boards and leadership of 10 federal agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, emerging as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments, announced on Monday, take immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Fayose will lead the board of the REA alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The board also includes the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.

In another key appointment, President Tinubu named Major General Junaid Bindawa (retd.) as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

The President also appointed former Lagos lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, as Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were named commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.

Other members appointed into the commission are Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).

Tinubu also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from his previous position as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

As part of the appointments, Dr Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission, while Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).

The President also approved the appointment of Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Similarly, Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, replacing Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.

Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.

Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

In the education sector, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund earlier this year.

The President also appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director, Finance, of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue his governorship ambition in Benue State.

Iorja is an economist, legal scholar and academic who currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission.

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take effect immediately.
