In a statement issued on Saturday Residents of Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba states are set to experience a temporary disruption in electricity supply as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced a planned outage on the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 330kV transmission line.

The statement by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN said the outage would result from the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the 330kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Single Circuit Transmission Line at the Bauchi 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation.

The company explained that the maintenance exercise would commence at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, and end at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

According to TCN, the work will temporarily prevent the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) from receiving bulk electricity for distribution to customers in Bauchi, Gombe, Damaturu, Maiduguri, Yola, Jalingo and surrounding communities.”Yola Electricity Distribution Company and Jos Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to off-take electricity for onward delivery to customers in the affected areas during the period of the installation exercise,” the statement said.

TCN, however, assured consumers that normal bulk power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the project.

The transmission company apologised for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause residents and businesses across the affected states, noting that the upgrade forms part of efforts to strengthen the reliability and efficiency of the national transmission network.
