Morocco’s 2–0 victory over Cameroon on Friday night has further underline why the hosts are widely tipped to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
From Rabat to Casablanca, the cities are buzzing, draped in red and green, and fully behind a home side feeding off the energy of a nation in full support mode.
On the pitch, Morocco were composed, dominant and clinical. Once again, Brahim Díaz was the difference, opening the scoring and extending his remarkable run of goals in every match he has played at the tournament. The Real Madrid forward has been the standout performer of AFCON 2025, combining sharp finishing with relentless influence in attack.
Beyond Díaz, Morocco’s strength lies in their balance. They are defensively solid, tactically disciplined and comfortable controlling games. With the country united behind them, home advantage in full effect and their talisman in red hot form, Morocco look increasingly like the team to beat as the semi finals approach.
