PDP Crisis: People’s Mandate Group Blasts Wike And Cohorts Over Violent Attack on PDP Secretariat

…Accuses Police of Conspiracy and Calls for Federal Intervention

The People’s Mandate Group has issued a fierce condemnation of the violent attack on the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party, describing the events at Wadata Plaza as a coordinated ambush orchestrated by Nyesom Wike and his collaborators, with full backing from compromised police officers deployed to intimidate and brutalize unarmed citizens.

According to the group, the chaos witnessed earlier today was not an isolated incident but a carefully executed operation designed to destabilize the PDP, disrupt the activities of its newly elected National Working Committee, and instill fear ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Eyewitnesses report that heavily armed police officers took over Wadata Plaza from the early hours, preventing staff, journalists, and party faithful from accessing the building.

As crowds gathered for the inaugural meeting of the National Working Committee, police operatives launched an unprovoked assault, firing tear gas and live ammunition directly into a gathering of peaceful Nigerians.

Tension heightened at about 10:00 AM when the convoys of Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN arrived at the secretariat, only to meet thugs allegedly mobilized by expelled former National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who had already barricaded the gate.

In what observers described as the most shocking development of the day, Nyesom Wike was physically present at Wadata Plaza, sitting inside his vehicle and supervising the entire operation, issuing instructions to both the thugs and the police officers who were attacking unarmed civilians.

Multiple witnesses confirm that Wike remained on-site for an extended period, coordinating movements and directing the show of force unleashed on party members.
Speaking on behalf of the People’s Mandate Group, spokesperson Abdulfatai Diran condemned the incident as an “unprecedented attack on democracy.”
“This was not just violence. It was a political coup executed in broad daylight,” Diran said.

“Wike was right there in his car, supervising police officers and thugs as they brutalized innocent citizens. It is the clearest evidence that he and his cohorts are prepared to destroy anything standing in the way of their desperation.”

Diran described the manhandling of PDP staff, the forced evacuation of workers, and the reckless firing of weapons at peaceful supporters as a calculated attempt to weaken the PDP and take control of its structures through coercion and fear.

According to him, the police officers at Wadata Plaza acted, not as protectors of the law, but as enforcers for individuals with dark political ambitions.

“What happened today is not policing. It is state-sponsored thuggery,” Diran said. “No country that calls itself a democracy should tolerate this level of open sabotage.”

The People’s Mandate Group called on the Federal Government to immediately intervene, warning that Nigeria is dangerously close to slipping into authoritarian rule if such acts go unpunished.

They demanded the immediate withdrawal of compromised officers, a full-scale investigation into the attack, and accountability for every individual involved regardless of their political influence.

“Democracy cannot survive when those who are meant to defend it are the ones dismantling it,” Diran warned. “The Federal Government must step in now before Nigeria slides into political lawlessness.”

The People’s Mandate Group reaffirmed its commitment to defending democratic institutions and vowed to mobilize Nigerians nationwide to resist any further attempts to destabilize the PDP or suppress the democratic rights of citizens.
