The House Committee on Digital and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, is inviting all citizens and stakeholders to a Joint Public Hearing on the National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill 2025 according to a Press release from the office of the spokesman of the House of Representative.

Jointly convened by both committees, this hearing forms a vital part of the 10th Assembly’s commitment to inclusive, forward-looking, and stakeholder-driven legislation aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

Event Details:

Date:
Monday, November 10, 2025

Time:
10:00 a.m. WAT

Venue:
Senate Conference Room 022, Senate New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

The proposed legislation seeks to establish a comprehensive framework for Nigeria’s digital economy, e-governance systems, and cybersecurity architecture. It is designed to provide an enabling environment for innovation, secure digital operations, and efficient service delivery across both public and private sectors.

To ensure robust engagement, a Draft copy of the bill can be downloaded at: nass.gov.ng/documents/bills/11219.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Digital and Information Technology, Rep. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, stated that the public hearing is a crucial opportunity for Nigerians, particularly stakeholders in the technology, education, and governance sectors, to contribute meaningfully to shaping the nation’s digital policy landscape.

Senator Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu, FNCS, Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, further emphasised that the bill is “not just another piece of legislation, but a blueprint for our collective digital future, designed to create opportunities for our youth, secure our cyberspace, and make governance more efficient and transparent.”

“For this bill to be truly national, it must be shaped by the voices of the nation. That is why we are inviting stakeholders and the general public to share their insights, expertise, and concerns. Together, we can build a robust, inclusive, and secure digital Nigeria,” Senator Salisu affirmed.

The 10th Assembly reaffirms its commitment to legislation that positions Nigeria as a competitive digital economy, enhances public sector transparency, and empowers citizens through access to innovative and secure digital services.
