Sports Ministers Senator John Owan Enoh has congratulated shot putter, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi for winning the first GOLD medal for Nigeria at the ongoing African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon.
Enekwechi produced a Championship Record of 21.20m to win gold for Nigeria in the men’s Shot Put.
In a short message to the champion, Senator John Enoh said: “You have completed a hat-trick of African Championship titles, to win the most GOLD medals by a male Shot Putter in the history of the Championships!
“The sports loving president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Nigerians are proud of you .
“Keep flying high.
Meanwhile It was a striking podium sweep in the women’s discus throw, with Team Nigeria taking all three medals available; Ashley Anumba won gold after a disc throw of 59.30m,Obiageri Amaechi got Silver with 58.80m and Chioma Onyekwere completed the podium winning the Bronze medal after a disc throw of 57.96m.
Nigeria is currently topping the table with 2 GOLD medals from the three finals concluded on the 21st of June 2024.
