Nigeria’s women under 18 handball team have qualified for the semi final of the IHF Women’s Trophy Intercontinental Phase in Uzbekistan, following their 29-14 victory over North Caledonia on Thursday.
The Coach Shittu Adewunmi Agboola tutored side spurred on by the victory of the previous day, went into the match with the same zeal that saw them defeat Guadalupe as they comfortably took the first half 15-7.
The second half saw North Caledonia coming back with a purposeful play but they met Goalkeeper Kehinde Babatunde who as the captain of the made some breathtaking saves that spurred the girls to go for a 29-14 victory.
Captain Kehinde Babatunde was thus, awarded the most outstanding player of the match. Her sister Taiwo Babatunde was voted the MVP in their previous day against Guadaloupe.
Nigeria will know their semi final opponent at the end of the day’s fixture.
