A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has called on President Bola Tinubu to pursue oil cabals and bring them to book.
Speaking on the sidelines of a Thanksgiving Church service in honour of the out-going General Secretary of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Kaduna state, Reverend Yunusa Nmadu, the former Speaker said that the President has so far demonstrated leadership and should be commended by all citizens.
He, however, insisted that the President should ensure that all the looted funds are recovered from the oil cabals.
Dogara also commended the President on the appointment of new service chiefs, noting that Tinubu has demonstrated leadership by carrying every region along regardless of party, ethnicity and religion.
On their part, the ECWA General Secretary, Reverend Yunusa Nmadu; and the Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Sunday Katung also commended the President on the appointment of the new service chiefs, which according to them, is a demonstration of equity and justice.
They, however, urged the new service chiefs to address issue of insecurity, ravaging the country, particularly in the northern region , just as they called on the President to provide palliatives to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
Boat Accident: Governor Otu orders all the Marina Cruise company to shut down
Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has ordered the immediate suspension of all cruise operations and other activities at Marina Resort in Calabar over a boat accident that occurred on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
The tragic accident involved 14 medical students with three feared dead and 11 rescued.
In a statement on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbeche, the governor also ordered that “cruise boat operators with the management of the State Tourism Bureau are directed to attend a meeting in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023 by 12pm”.
“Besides the cruise boat operations, the State Ministry of Transport is to immediately cross-check the safety standards and conditions of all boats operating in the Calabar waterways,” the statement added.
The governor further asked that the police speed up investigation of the boat accident and prosecute those found culpable to serve as deterrence to others.
He sympathised with the families of the affected students over the unfortunate incident.
