Candidates of the All Progressive Congress, APC for the Saturday, February 25, General elections in Osun East Senatorial District have called on the electorate to come out enmasse and perform their civic responsibility without fear of intimidation or harassment.
The people including the member representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, chief Babatunde Ayeni and mr Ajibola Famurewa made the appeal during a campaign rally at Ajido, Itaapa,owode, Igangan, Iwara , all in Atakumosa East local Government Area.
Addressing the gathering, Chief LB Ayeni urged the people to reject political violence brewing in the areas since the temporal change of government In the state through their PVC.
While emphasizing with those who suffered one injury or the other during the attack on innocent people of the state in the last 3 months for identifying with his party.
He urged them not to be scared of empty threats by some Violent political opponents in the local government as adequate arrangement has been made for their security
He however challenged the security agencies to live above board in ensuring level play ground for all political parties before, during and after the election.
In his contribution the Speaker of Osun State Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye thanked the people of the local government for not taking law into their hands in spite of the repeated intimidations by some political thugs carrying out instructions of their pay masters, urging them to use their PVCs to correct the anomalies and restore peace to the area
The residents who did not want their names mentioned expressed dismay at the use of force by the political opponents to win the election at all cost.
While assuring the APC flag bearers of their support the people urged them to ensure their safety throughout the exercise in various communities.
Speaking, the Osun East APC senatorial candidate, Mr. Israel Ajibola Famurewa enjoined the people to eschew violence, but speak out through their PVCs and vote for peaceful and God fearing APC candidates in the general elections.
He reiterated his resolve never to join issue with any politicians through campaign of calumny, but will rely of the mandate of the electorate and the grace of God which he said surpasses the use of force or violence.
Mr Famurewa encouraged the people to troop out and vote for the representative of the Yoruba tribe in the election and the peaceful APC team in the Senatorial District.
In attendance were the party stalwarts including, the member of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Festus Komolafe.
