In a statement by the NSSF and signed by BRIGADIER-GENERAL LONSDALE OLADEJI ADEOYE(RTD), President, Nigerian Shooting Sports Federation(NSSF).
“It is with utter shock that we at the Nigerian Shooting Sports Federation, NSSF, received the ugly news of the demise of President of Nigerian Weightlifting Federation, Hon. Yayaha Mohammed ‘Big Man’ whose sad event occurred today(Saturday, 18th April, 2020) at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, after battling with a brief illness.
“From the bottom of our hearts, and on behalf of the Nigerian Shooting Sports Federation, NSSF, we share our thoughts and prayers with Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare, the Nigerian Olympic Committee, the Nigerian Weightlifting Federation, and the family of the deceased person.
“Our joy rests on the fact that the late Hon.Yahaya lived a successful life, impacting positively on the Weightlifting Federation, notably during the 12th Edition of the Africa Games in Morocco, last year, where he was nicknamed the “Golden President” by his admirers.
“He equally left his remarkable footprints on sports generally and the larger Nigerian and global societies. The late NWF President was a friendly and quintessential personality whose great achievements in the Weightlifting Federation and sports in general will be hard to match, while the vacuum created by his untimely death will take time to be filled.
“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi. And may He also grant his family and those he left behind the heart to bear this irreparable loss. The statement concludes.
