President of the MUAYTHAI FEDERATION OF NIGERIA (MFN), COMRADE PAUL EGONU has commended the Minister of Youth and Sports Sunday Dare for his proactive stance and support towards containing the COVID 19 in the country
Sports Minister, Sunday Dare ordered all the National Stadiums in Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and Ibadan shut to public as a means of curbing the spread of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19
EGONU who said it is all about the safety of athletes , fans and all stakeholders added that there is no better time for all sports federation to come together in solidarity to give their support and show love to one another
EGONU has urged Athletes to embrace the culture of regular washing of hands, applying alcohol based sanitisers and maintaining clean environment to break the chain of infection of the coronavirus that is been proposed by the Medical Experts, stressing that we cannot afford to lose any Athlet to the Covid 19 virus.
He advised sports men and women to continue to train by doing little physical exercises to keep them in shape and kill boredom
The Federal Government had called off the National Sports Festival as a result of the pandemic, just as the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting was suspended, while workers from levels 12 and below have been directed to work from home.
Only on Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had postponed the 2020 Tokyo Olympics till 2021 as a result of the spread of the virus.
