COAS Shooters and Omo Ogiefo Academy were crowned champions as the National Division One League 2024 drew to a close at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Friday.
Coas Shooters, the Nigeria Army sponsored team under the tutelage of Coach Emeka Nnamani, defeated Osun United 21-16 in a tension-soaked final match in the men category to be crowned champion. COAS Shooters and Osun United will play in the Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 after they gained promotion in their semi-final matches.
In the Women’s category final, Omo Ogeifo Academy had to really dig deep as they earned a slim but pulsating 18-17 victory over Ekiti Queens to emerge champion.
Earlier on in the third place matches , Plateau Vipers defeated Police Machine 18-16 to finish in third place in the men category while in an oriental derby third place match in the women’s category, Abia Valiants eased past Coal City Babes with an emphatic 24-11 victory to finish third.
