The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday recorded another milestone in the resolution of a lingering denial of right to inheritance against a woman in Ugwulangwu community in Ohaozara local government of Ebonyi state.
The Ebonyi state office in collaboration with other partners comprising MDAs, CSOs, NGOs etc visited the community to enforce the decision of the Executive Secretary led Special Investigation Panel on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV).
The Panel had on the 16th and 17th February, 2021 held sittings Commission helped the Complainant regain her motorcycle and other items that was confiscated by her community. Her house that was sealed was equally opened. She was supported to get a religious minister of her choice to bless the house so she can gain entrance again.
The properties of her father that’s the bone of contention will be shared between her and her half-brother in out next visit.
