Currently I am very much in shape, am very much in form, I believe with God I can play anywhere in the world, be it Barca or Real Madrid because I know I have the skills and I believe in God that he can take me there” those are the words of CHINONSO EMEKA the young striker from WATER FC of Abuja considered by many to be the next big thing in Nigerian football.
Speaking to Sportsgaloreng.com from his team, WATER FC camp base in Abuja on Tuesday the 19 year old prolific striker popular called “Goal Alert” who has been compared to the likes of NORWEGIAN and BORUSSIA DORTMUND forward ERLING HALAND said KANU NWANKWO and SWEDISH ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC are his idols in football.
Speaking further, the 6feet 7inches tall Flying Eagles striker compared his playing style to that of Swedish legend ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVICH and his scoring prowess to that of Norwegian sensation,ERLING HALAND.
“i am ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC, that’s my style and playing pattern, but ERLING HALLAND is a kind of player that knows the net, he’s friend to the net” he said.
“he can bang goals anytime, he always delivers.
That is the kind of player I want to be” CHINONSO disclosed.
CHINONSO who currently has 26 goals in 17 appearance for WATER FC of Abuja said he is not afraid of playing against Europeans defenders as he is prepared for the task ahead.
“European defenders are tactically very good and for me to meet up with them, challenge and score against them, I need to work very hard which I’m doing right now, I believe in hard work and prayers to take me to stardom.
The humble giant said he is always grateful to God, his mentor and Chairman of WATER FC, MAKANJUOLA NURENI and his teammates.
“I thank God for He has been faithful to me and my teammates. I also appreciate our chairman and father in the Water FC, MAKÀNJUOLA NURENI. He made everything easy for us and we can only appreciate him with our performances.
“I am trusting God for improvement in my career. I want to play for the best clubs in the world but I am not in a rush to move out of the country yet,” he said.
CHINONSO was part of the COACH PAUL AIGBOGUN tutored Nigeria Flying Eagles team to the 2019 U-20 FIFA WORLD CUP in POLAND but didn’t get to play any match because of the injury he sustained during training.
He was also part of Team Nigeria football squad that won silver at the 2019 ALL AFRICAN GAMES in RABAT, MOROCCO.
A high point of the Games was CHINONSO’S 89th minute goal against hosts Morocco in the quarter-finals which took Nigeria to the semi-finals.
