…As he promises to sponsor a cycling race
The Cycling Federation of Nigeria, CFN has commended the Chairman of Owan West Local Government Area, HON. FRANK ILABOYA and the good people of the Local Government for successfuly hosting a 3-DAY CYCLING COMMISSAIRES COURSE in Avbiosi- Uzebba, OWAN WEST LOCAL GOVERNMEN AREA.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Cycling Referees Course, DR EMMANUEL IGBINOSA, who was the resource person for the course and a member of the CFN Board, thanked ILABOYA who sponsored the course for identifying with cycling in this hard times.
“We have keenly followed the positive steps you have taken to uplift the health and socio economic status of the people of Owan West Local Government Area. Your administration’s acknowledgement of sports and health as strategic pillars of development is an attestation to your recognition of the vital role of sports in the promotion of health and wellbeing of an individual in your domain,” he said.
Responding, HON. ILABOYA expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event for bringing the course to his locality, stressing that he would continue to empower the youths of OWAN WEST through sports.
The former Chairman of the Edo Football Association, EFA and the Lagos chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, promised to sponsor a cycling competition early next year as a way of helping to boost the chances of Team Edo at the 2020 National Sports Festival to be hosted in Benin City.
He said he is hopeful some of the OWAN WEST youths who participated in the COMMISSAIRES COURSE would put what they learnt to use during Sports Festival and the cycling competition to be hosted in Owan West in February.
“We are happy that the CFN brought this course to our domain. We want to continue to empower our youths through sports and it is our hope that some of the youths who participated in this course would have the opportunity to officiate at next year’s National Sports Festival in Beni City”, he said.
At the end of the Course, the Chairman in company with the Edo state Sports Commission Chairman, BARRISTER GODWIN DUDU-ORUMEN presented certificates to all the participants who attended the course.
